Review of Old Oak Pub

Poco recomendable
Today was supposed to be a memorable night out at Old Oak Pub, where my friends and I had planned to enjoy a jazz event we’d been looking forward to for weeks. As an Indian student in the area, I was excited to experience the local scene and share it with friends. However, the night took a disheartening turn due to the way we were treated. When I arrived, my friends were already inside, so I explained to the security guard that I just needed to join them. Suddenly, a bald man nearby, who seemed influential, interrupted and flatly told me I wouldn’t be allowed in at all. Despite my polite request to wait in line, he insisted I had no chance of entry and pressured the security guard to make sure of it. I felt humiliated but still waited patiently in the queue, hoping things would work out. When my turn finally came, I was left embarrassed as they denied my entry without any explanation. It was incredibly painful to be treated this way—like I didn’t belong—simply because of who I am. My friends, seeing this, left with me, and what should have been a fun night turned into an experience that left us feeling unwelcome and unsafe. This kind of treatment felt blatantly discriminatory, and it’s heartbreaking to think that anyone else, especially an Indian woman, might have to go through the same. I urge the management of Old Oak Pub to take situations like this seriously, making sure that their venue is a place where everyone, regardless of background, feels safe, respected, and welcome.
